AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE Six paintings exhibited in Art of the Pastel 2014 will receive Awards of Excellence on the evening of February 7. Juror Alan Flattmann has the task of selecting those paintings that best exemplify the highest standards of art and pastel. He will award Best of Show, First Place, Second Place, Third Place and two Honorable Mentions. Artists do not have to be present to receive these awards. PSST member artists receiving Best of Show or First Place will receive one point toward Signature Status. Cash and product awards were generously donated by Ampersand, Dick Blick, Canson, Dakota Art, F&W Publications, Gamblin, Glaser Frames, Mike Mahon, Pastel Journal and Utrecht Art Supplies. We are grateful for their support. DOOR PRIZES To add a little fun and anticipation, PSST will be drawing names for several door prizes. All PSST artists attending the reception are eligible, whether exhibiting or not. Just write your name on paper and drop it in the door prize container at the reception table. Small but very useful, these art prizes were donated by PSST and are not eligible for cash return or exchange. You must be present when your name is drawn.

Update to Calendar of Events for Saturday, February 8 Grace Hessman will coordinate a plein air event in the Clute/Surfside area for Saturday morning, February 8. If you would like to participate, please email Grace so she will know to expect you and can give you details. If you are taking the Alan Flattmann workshop, Grace is one of the PSST artists attending. Styles, colors, subject matter - it was all eye candy as artists unwrapped and volunteers checked in a beautiful array of pastel works today at The Center for the Arts and Sciences. Many thanks to Sally Webster and the Brazosport Art League for their time and assistance. What's in store for PSST members and supporters attending the Reception on February 7?
Update to Calendar of Events: There are no planned arrangements for a Plein Air event on February 8. Workshop or Reception attendees may choose to organize an impromptu outing to the Surfside area, but arrangements will be at each artist's . |
