PSST All member Show 2019Winners, all. That was the consensus of everyone attending the All-Member Show at DaVinci Gallery on June 8th. The work of every member was excellent. Added to that was the enjoyment of seeing so many pastel paintings displayed in one location. It was a night to inspire us in creating work for PSST's upcoming national show, Art of the Pastel.
Our thanks go to Linda Dellandre and Carolina Dalmas who organized and coordinated the exhibition and to DaVinci Gallery for hosting the show in their beautiful gallery. The show is not juried. So, there’s no worry of getting the dreaded not-accepted email. Every member who enters is in. That said, it doesn’t mean you should send in something of which you are not proud. Rather, stop and look for the best in your portfolio – or start something new. When you’re ready, pick out one or two or three possibilities. Call a friend. Consult. Go to a critique session. Maybe your painting is perfect. Or maybe one comment can change it from fine to amazing. It can happen.
Then, you’re ready for a frame. Choose one that complements your painting. We all know how the right frame can make a big difference*. Right now, sit down and write these dates on your calendar:
Also, make note of Arden’s Fine Art Gallery and Framing address – it’s 1631 W. Alabama, in the heart of the museum district, and it’s where you’ll drop off your work on the Tuesday after Labor Day. Stop in any time over the summer. I think you’ll find that Arden’s setting is ideal for showing off our pastels as it is light, bright and airy with white walls. I hope all PSST members will join in the celebration. The artists’ reception will be fun and when you see all our beautiful pastels hanging side by side, you – as I do when I see Magritte’s pipe – will smile. *Of note: Arden’s, known for their framing expertise, is offering a 20% discount to all PSST members on work that will be in the Members’ Show and Sale. The shop has almost 2,000 different frame styles to choose. Just be sure and tell the owner Amanda Hoak that you are a PSST member and be certain to give her two to three weeks lead time to get the work done.
