Carolyn Hancock's painting, I Wonder, has been accepted in a unique program created by The Woodlands High School. With an end result of acquiring a permanent art collection, each year TWHS invites artists of Texas to submit one image for jurying into an exhibition of 15-20 artists. From that exhibition, students vote on their choice, and 3-5 paintings are acquired by the Art Foundation. Those paintings purchased become part of a collection permanently displayed on the walls of TWHS. Acquisition of the paintings is determined by the voting of the entire school system. Students and faculty are involved throughout the entire process: invitations, jurying, posters, videos, presenters, shirts, volunteers. It is a great program, used in many ways to enrich curriculum not only in visual arts, but in language arts and social studies. The reception and voting results will be on January 31, 2014, at The Woodlands High School. Carolyn was also accepted in the 2012 exhibition.

from Nell Bednarz: Fresh Air, Sunshine is one of three of my paintings juried into the upcoming art book "International Contemporary Masters Vol. 8". It will be published in early 2014, and the artists will then exhibit together at a museum in Las Vegas, Nevada. This book is sent to a large number of art museums and galleries around the globe, and it is a real blessing to have been selected to submit work (by one of my fans from LinkedIn who is on the World Wide Art Books staff). Congratulations, Nell. See more of her work on her website. I am pleased to announce that one of my red chalk sketches has been published in the hardback edition of Strokes of Genius 5, The Best of Drawing – Design and Composition. Rachel Rubin Wolf does a terrific job with these publications, and I am very pleased to have had my work selected to appear in this edition. It includes some really talented artists, so I feel very humbled to share the pages with them. It is available through Amazon and your local book sellers. I was especially pleased that Ms. Wolf chose to quote me on the inside front cover book flap: "Good composition reveals what many fail to see." Ford, Red Chalk Sketch by Brenda hash I have started a pastel demonstration on my blog which will span a number of posts.
