JUST DO IT!    ..... by Wednesday, August 10

Nike’s iconic slogan JUST DO IT! is hailed as one of the best taglines of all time. For good reason. It makes sense.

While Nike is decidedly referencing sports, encouraging the everyday athlete to get out there and try, the sentiment applies to art – and art competitions, too.

So,  JUST DO IT!  Get your camera out, take a photo of one of your pastels and enter Art of the Pastel 2016.

We know, we know,  it’s hard to put yourself out there.

What if my piece is rejected?  What if my best friend gets in and I don’t?  We’ve heard the excuses – judges don’t like abstract. Or realism.  Or portraits.  Or landscapes. Or still lifes.  Judges don’t like my work. Nobody likes my work.  I’m not good enough.  I’m not ready. There are a thousands reasons not to enter. None are valid.

Of course, encouraging you to ‘just do it’ is easy.  But sooner or later, you need to have a little faith in yourself – and your art.  You have to believe in yourself.

Your work might get in. It might not.  You know what?  Whether your piece gets in or not, the world is still going to spin around and you’re going to keep on producing art.  And, at least you did it.

We’re hoping for 100 percent participation from PSST members. Come on. We can all JUST DO IT! together.

Find entry forms here http://www.pastelsocietyofsoutheasttexas.org/art-of-the-pastel-2016.html and http://www.artshow.com/. Deadline is Wednesday, August 10.

Click on to read important instructions from Carolina Dalmas.

Now that you’ve decided to just do it, you need to...

Art of the Pastel co-chair Carolina Dalmas reminds you to that it’s important size your entries correctly.

And, it’s easy.

OnlineJuriedShow has a special tool at http://onlinejuriedshows.com/Help.aspx. You follow the directions, starting with “Check Image Size.” From here, you will be directed to another screen where you will: “Choose File.” You navigate to the place where your file is stored, highlight the jpg and select “Choose.” Then “Upload and Check Image Size.” The picture requirements will appear on the bottom. Back on http://onlinejuriedshows.com/Help.aspx, use the second square or tool to resize your picture, if needed.

This process is not entering the show. This is merely getting your image to the correct size for submission. As the website says: “by converting your image here you are not entering the image into any show. You are simply resizing your image to meet the size specifications of OnlineJuriedShows.com <http://onlinejuriedshows.com> . Please ensure that you have a high quality photo or scan of your work before uploading.”

To enter the show, go to http://onlinejuriedshows.com/Default.aspx?OJSID=7597, click on YES I want to get into this show and follow the steps.

Carolina says to call her for help. Her number is 832.567.0685. Email is cdalmas@comcast.net.
