It really was beginning to look a lot like Christmas on Saturday the 7th. It was a very cold day, warmed beautifully by the Christmas decorated house and hospitality of Sharon Haney and her husband. Sixteen PSST members braved the cold and the distance but what a great reward. Friends and food, followed by the fun of swapping and stealing of these mini-originals.
Just two weeks until the PSST Holiday Meeting. The fun part will be our Artist Trading Card exchange, the food part will be tasting specialties of all our members.
For the ATC Secret Santa Exchange, paint a 4 x 5 inch pastel, wrap it unframed in glassine and brown paper or newspaper.
And we are celebrating one year of PSST becoming active again - it's been a great year of making new friends. Learning, painting, planning. 2014 promises to be the best, with the Art of the Pastel exhibition at a beautiful venue, Alan Flattmann workshop, and wonderful awards for the top pastels.
As artists, we look for new or different ways to market our artwork, to create an interest. This week's newsletter from artist David Cheifetz unveiled his approach. It's a Holiday Charity Sale, but the way he is handling it makes it innovative. Maybe it will give you an idea. Read his newsletter to learn more. Cheifetz' compositions are interesting, unusual, fanciful; you'll enjoy his website.
