*Emerging category – Any member that meets one or more of the following qualifications: students, hobbyists, just started to apply to juried shows and/or art shows, and sells work occasionally in local exhibitions.
*Established category - Any Member Artist that meets one or more of the following qualifications: submits to and is accepted in national professional exhibitions, has active presence with website, blog, or newsletter, sells own work in a gallery, online, special show, or co-op setting, and/or has earned a designated status in prominent pastel society by points or jurying. May teach workshops or give demos.
 
 Judge – Rae Andrews
Rae Andrews is an Australian ex-pat now residing in Texas. She is highly influenced by color, movement, and tonal drama in her art. Rae works in all media: oils, watercolor, pastels and acrylics. You can read more about the judge at her website https://www.raeandrews.com
Eligibility Requirements:
  • No mixed media, photographs, digital or any other media other than soft pastels.
  • Artwork must be original and have been created in the last 2 years.
  • Compositions based on published material (unless it is your own), another artist’s work, or another photographer’s work, are not considered original and therefore are NOT eligible.
  • Must be entirely the work of the artist and not copied from another artist’s work.
  • Artwork must not have been created under supervision in a workshop or class, in person, on-line or otherwise.
  • Artwork must be for sale and cannot be picked up before the show closes.
  • One year ban from entering any PSST show if rules are not followed.
ENTRY FEES AND REQUIREMENTS:
Member Pricing: $25 for up to 2 entries. Please carefully select the order of your entries, as they cannot be changed. Entry #1 is guaranteed to be displayed at Degallery, entry #2 will be considered if gallery space is available. Maximum 2 artworks per member.
If you would like to become a member of the Pastel Society of Southeast Texas, please visit our website http.//www.pastelsocietyofsoutheasttexas.com. Membership fees are $35 per year.
  • Entries are made via a Google form using a link on PSST website: https://forms.gle/BqWMnMLuRDNeb1Cm9.
  • Submit up to 2 images.
  • JPEGs must not show mat, frame, etc. and must be an accurate representation of the artwork. Photos should be cropped to include only the artwork. Please be sure your images are right side up.
  • Images should be in JPEG format, in RGB color space.
  • Images must be smaller than 1MB, maximum of 1920 pixels on the longest side and 72dpi.
  • The PSST Exhibition Committee reserves the right to reject work deemed unsuitable at the venue.
  • Size restriction is 36 inches x 36 inches including frame.
  • Artwork must be firmly framed with screw eyes or “D” rings and wired ready for hanging. No sawtooth hangers.
  • Digital images of your artwork should be high quality, look professional and accurately represent your work.
Payments:
The entry fee is paid via PayPal/Credit Card to Pastel Society of Southeast Texas upon submission.(Please find the link below). No checks accepted. All entry fees are nonrefundable and must be paid by the entry deadline.

​Sales:
  • Paintings must be for sale.
  • Degallery will handle the sales and they will keep 40% commission on all art sold and artists will receive 60%. The buyer is responsible for shipping costs.
  • There will be no substitutions of paintings during the show and no early removal of artwork.
  • Prices may not be changed after submission and after the submission deadline.
 
 
Delivery and Shipping of Accepted Artwork:
  • Artwork accepted into the Show must be delivered to Degallery, 930 N. Rosemary Dr, Bryan, TX 77802, on Saturday, January 25th between 9:00 am – 3:00 pm or Monday, January 27th between 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm or by appointment 979-704-3090. Alternatively, artwork can be arranged for delivery by Lynda Hughes, 832-755-7063. Degallery is closed on Sundays.
  • If mailed to Degallery, there will be no handling fee for work
shipped in an Airfloat Strong Box or Uline Deluxe Art Shipper.  Work shipped in other packaging will carry a $35 handling fee payable at the time of shipping; no crates will be accepted. Styrofoam peanuts and similar loose packing materials are not allowed.  Boxes that arrive unsuitable for return shipping must be replaced by artist.  Work must be shipped by commercial carrier (UPS, FedEx, DHL).  Please contact Degallery if you are unable to pick up and want your unsold artwork to be shipped back to you after the show at your expense.   All work must be clean, securely framed, and wired for hanging in a non-metal frame.  We recommend the use of a framer’s grade plexiglass for shipping large paintings to minimize shipping cost and risk.
  • The gallery is responsible for delivery or shipping sold work to buyers. Buyers pay for shipping.
  • Degallery and Pastel Society of Southeast Texas will use all reasonable care in receiving, hanging, showing, and returning work.  Neither Degallery or Pastel Society of Texas is responsible for any damage or loss to work incurred during shipping, hanging, or showing the work.  It is recommended that
Artists insure their own work. Degallery reserves the right not to hang work that arrives damaged; is not properly wired for hanging; that is not equivalent to the image submitted for selection; or that otherwise does not conform to Submission Requirements.  Damaged work will be reported to artist and, if needed, returned at the artist’s expense.
  • Artwork must be picked up on February 26 or March 1st, 2025 during business hours from the gallery or arranged for pickup by Lynda Hughes, 832-755-7063.   Art cannot be stored at Degallery after March 1, 2025.

Terms:
As a condition of entry to the PSST Annual Member Exhibition 2025, the submitting artist agrees to the terms and conditions stated herein, including granting permission to the Pastel Society of Southeast Texas and Degallery to reproduce the accepted paintings for advertising and promotional purposes only.  No images will be used or published for any other purposes except as stated above.

The Pastel Society of Southeast Texas holds a Members Only exhibition every year. This exhibition offers members a unique opportunity to show their work in a gallery setting and win awards, while building their resume. With the awards categories of Emerging and Established Artists, gallery visitors can view and purchase paintings by members new to pastel as well as professional artists who have exhibited nationally and won major awards. ​​
