JURY OF SELECTION

CINDY CRIMMIN

"I realized that the act of painting has helped me to see and to appreciate the world around me more than I ever realized. I now specialize in portraits, landscapes and still life.  The light, texture and forms that draw me to landscapes and still life are enhanced in my portrait work by the gesture and sparkle that light the human face."

BARBARA JAENICKE

"I try to paint the effect of the light in the landscape, and my response to it, rather than “things.” To do this, I need to push beyond the basic mechanics of creating the work. No painting is ever easy for me. Each one challenges me to create that magic that goes beyond just a painting of a thing. "

CLAUDIA POST

"As an artist, emotional empathy with people is the essence of my work.  In my portraits, I portray not only a physical likeness but the human spirit.  Whether working in rich oil or vibrant pastel it is always a quest to capture the unique beauty I see in everyone and everything."

JUROR Of AWARDS, JEANNETTE CUEVAS

Jeannette Cuevas, Silver Award Winner in the International Association of Pastel Societies 2018 Webshow, will be Juror of Awards for Art of the Pastel 2019.
I am inspired by the unexpected beauty that is revealed by light, most often the sunlight. I discovered that not only did the light shine on an object but it seemed to glow from within as well. That became my challenge and my desire, to not only expose the exterior beauty of a subject illuminated by the light but to also reveal the light that glows from within.
