The Pastel Society of Southeast Texas holds a Members Only exhibition every year. This exhibition offers members a unique opportunity to show their work in a gallery setting and win awards, while building their resume. With the awards categories of Emerging and Established Artists, gallery visitors can view and purchase paintings by members new to pastel as well as professional artists who have exhibited nationally and won major awards.

JUDGE OF AWARDS, DENISE MAHLKE
A professional artist since 1998, Denise has gained national recognition for her landscape paintings which have been featured in numerous publications, including Western Art & Architecture, Southwest Art, Plein Air, and Pastel Journal. She has been twice honored as winner of the First Place award in Landscape with the Art Renewal Center’s International Salon. In 2013, she was awarded the Gold Medal for works on paper and Best of Show award at the Phoenix Art Museum’s West Select show. In 2017, her work was featured in “Painting Red Rocks Country, Past and Present” a four person exhibit at the Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville, GA. More recently, in collaboration with the Executive Director of the Museum of Western Art, she proposed and curated “The Heavens Declare! Celebrating the Glory of the Skies.” Also, in 2022, Mahlke was invited as a guest artist to the 50th Anniversary Prix de West exhibit at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City. She returned as a guest artist in 2023 and is invited for this year's 52nd Annual Prix de West in June.
