Carolyn Hancock lives in Richmond TX, within the Greater Houston area. The colors and culture of travel continue to influence her love of painting people, waterscapes, and the vibrancy of color. Solo exhibitions in Texas and group exhibitions throughout the southeast USA, Saudi Arabia, and Japan insured her niche as a portrait and waterscapes artist. Hancock is an Associate Member in the Pastel Society of America. She served as President of the Pastel Society of Southeast Texas in 2014 and 2015. She is a member of American Women Artists and American Artists Professional League. Her portraits have been shown in juried national pastel exhibitions. Her poignant painting I Wonder was purchased by The Woodlands High School Art Trust Foundation for their innovative program designed to educate and motivate young artists. Women of the Times, her expressive portraits inspired by women throughout history, has been exhibited in Texas. A pastel-only artist, Hancock continues to study and push its boundaries. "My first ever, accidental art class was in portraits and pastel, and I fell in love with both."

Carolina Dalmas. Growing up in Argentina, Carolina was surrounded by nature and freedom, traits she believes have shape her art. My artistic journey started when I was 7 and my mom registered me into a youth Art Academy, which I attended for years. Here, I built a passion for drawing and painting in all mediums, which gave me a solid foundation in visual arts. My teacher was a nun who shared with me admiration for Michelangelo’s art, inspiring her with the anecdotes about him painting the Sistine Chapel against his will. Eventually, I set aside my career as an artist to attend school. I chose a scientific path and have an undergraduate degree in biochemistry with a post graduate degree in medical analysis and food science. I practiced in hospitals and clinics in Patagonia, where I lived at the time with my husband. It was there where my 2 daughters, Micaela and Caterina were born. After moving to the United States in 2004, I left behind my career as a biochemist, and turned to my love for painting as a way to reconnect with my roots. As an adult, I have continued my artistic studies with renowned artists around the world who have helped me transform my style from classical and neutral to a more dynamic, contemporary,, and colorful one.

Learn to paint the beautiful energy and translucency of a big ocean wave.
We will explore how a wave forms and how to make your painting look believable with shadows, falling crest, translucent light, aerated foam, the lace curtain, and more. All with rich colors! You'll be painting from a high resolution, stop-action photo of a backlit wave to see detail and decide how much or little of that detail to include. Get it right, and you will feel that you can walk into the wave. Supply list will be emailed to attendees. View Carolyn's website: https://carolynhancock.com |

Betty James. Betty loved to draw as a child but was 28 when she began to pursue art. She began with oil painting and has studied with many accomplished artists. For many years oil was her only media, and she taught adult and children classes.
Betty now works in many mediums: oil, acrylic, watercolor, sculpture and the beautiful medium of soft pastels. Her focus over the past decade has been on large commissioned murals in acrylic. She recent;ly complied a series of paintings for Northland Christian School consisting of 11 48x60 inch and 15 36x48 inch wrapped canvases in oil, now hung as murals. Betty works on commissioned paintings and does demos and workshops. President of PSST, Betty says, "Painting is a never ending process to learn and improve my skills and a way to express myself. I am thankful to have an art filled life working at something I love. It gives me a deeper appreciation for the beauty surrounding me daily." |
