Reminder that Saturday, February 1, is art delivery day at The Center for the Arts & Sciences in Clute, and that the entry tag from registration form must be attached to back of painting. So many volunteer hours have been put into Art of the Pastel 2014. Members of PSST have been wonderful in tackling any job asked of them. Thank you from all of the Show Committee.

PSST is on Facebook! Many thanks to Sharon Haney for creating a beautiful social network place for our pastel artists. Head over to Facebook, give us a LIKE, and post your latest painting. https://www.facebook.com/pastelsocietyofsoutheasttexas Rita Kirkman, a PSST member, gave a two day workshop in Victoria, TX last weekend where a dozen pastel painters tried their hands at creating brilliantly colored miniatures – something that Rita does so extremely well that she makes it look quite easy. She shared with everyone the method she uses for making her own prepared surfaces and painted a demo both days while her students watched. Early on the second day she painted a timed demo and at the end of Sunday she painted a non-miniature landscape scene of a creek gully in a nearby Victoria park. Both days Rita provided everyone with instruction, critique and technique. She also shared business tips and brought along many of her paintings and a few of her “Cows Etc” books. It was a thoroughly enjoyable weekend of pastel painting and those attending left with plenty of new and fresh skills to apply to their own art. Thanks to Rita for such an enjoyable workshop and to The Victoria Art League for hosting.
