The show is not juried. So, there’s no worry of getting the dreaded not-accepted email. Every member who enters is in. That said, it doesn’t mean you should send in something of which you are not proud. Rather, stop and look for the best in your portfolio – or start something new. When you’re ready, pick out one or two or three possibilities. Call a friend. Consult. Go to a critique session. Maybe your painting is perfect. Or maybe one comment can change it from fine to amazing. It can happen.

Then, you’re ready for a frame. Choose one that complements your painting. We all know how the right frame can make a big difference*.

Right now, sit down and write these dates on your calendar:

• Registration is open via showsubmit at this link
• Registration closes: Wednesday, August 15
• Paintings delivered to Arden’s: Tuesday, September 4; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Artists’ Reception and Awards’ Ceremony: Saturday, September 8; 5 to 7 p.m. with awards presentation at 5:30 p.m.
• Members’ Show and Sale closes: Saturday, September 29 at 3 p.m.
• Painting pick-up: Tuesday, October 2; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

 
Also, make note of Arden’s Fine Art Gallery and Framing address – it’s 1631 W. Alabama, in the heart of the museum district, and it’s where you’ll drop off your work on the Tuesday after Labor Day. Stop in any time over the summer. I think you’ll find that Arden’s setting is ideal for showing off our pastels as it is light, bright and airy with white walls.
I hope all PSST members will join in the celebration. The artists’ reception will be fun and when you see all our beautiful pastels hanging side by side, you – as I do when I see Magritte’s pipe – will smile.

Just be sure and tell the owner Amanda Hoak that you are a PSST member and be certain to give her two to three weeks lead time to get the work done.
