Whimsical, endearing, candid, all lovingly painted. What is it like to be surrounded by all of your paintings, from that first stumbling start to heart-warmers of grandchildren. To see the progression of skills, from observing a tiny hand to making a perfect flick of paint? And even more so, when almost all of the paintings are of your family?
The retrospective of Ann Evers' work brought out her feelings of pride and accomplishment. And she had stories to go with all the paintings, capturing three generations, each one treasured by a family member. This double portrait of Ann and her self portrait as a 14 year old shows her talent: the resemblance is still there, down to the tilt of the head.
The showing of Ann's pastel and oil paintings was one day only, June 12, 2018, at Sharpstown Baptist Church, 7000 Bellaire, Houston.
