Gold Ornament, Pastel by Carolyn Hancock
"I love painting people, getting just the right expression in their eyes, and leaving a little mystery, telling a story. I paint with color, lots of color, colors you wouldn't expect, unusual combinations. But when I reach the finish, the step-back, I'm done, all those strokes of pastel blend to believability, and they are beautiful."

Evening Stroll, Pastel by Caroline Ratliff
"Painting is my passion and joy, filling an inner need to produce something of beauty. My paintings are an extension of the way I connect emotionally with nature. Painting  from life gives me the opportunity to see the nuances of color and light and a sense of the location."

About VL: Visual Language Magazine is a contemporary digital art magazine presenting the stories and art of artists around the world. Visitors viewing VL are over a million each year. With on-line longevity and exposure, Visual Language offers artists direct click through links to their own websites and products.

from Nell Bednarz:   Fresh Air, Sunshine is one of three of my paintings juried into the upcoming art book "International Contemporary Masters Vol. 8". It will be published in early 2014, and the artists will then exhibit together at a museum in Las Vegas, Nevada. This book is sent to a large number of art museums and galleries around the globe, and it is a real blessing to have been selected to submit work (by one of my fans from LinkedIn who is on the World Wide Art Books staff).

Congratulations, Nell. See more of her work on her website.

Artists of Texas produces an online magazine dedicated to the work of artists. It's a beautiful publication and receives high visibility. The average statistics for the first 2 weeks of release is 30,000 visitors; at one month the average is close to 100,000 visitors.

A special pricing is offered for the January 2014 issue of Visual Language Magazine. If you book by November 8, the price for a full page ad is $45.  It's the perfect space for a single vertical or horizontal painting. Layouts can include one vertical and two horizontal, but the images will be very small. Editorial can be added. A double page ad booked by November 8 is $90.

When you advertise with VLM, you will also be featured as “The Artist of the Day” on a special blog and published on Facebook. The January issue will feature Abstract, Mixed Media and Encaustic Art, but ALL artwork is welcome. View the current issue at http://visuallanguagemagazine.com/. Contact Stacey Hendren at [email protected] with any questions or to reserve ad space.

I am pleased to announce that one of my red chalk sketches has been published in the hardback edition of Strokes of Genius 5, The Best of Drawing – Design and Composition.

Rachel Rubin Wolf does a terrific job with these publications, and I am very pleased to have had my work selected to appear in this edition.  It includes some really talented artists, so I feel very humbled to share the pages with them. It is available through Amazon and your local book sellers.  I was especially pleased that Ms. Wolf chose to quote me on the inside front cover book flap: "Good composition reveals what many fail to see."
