March 1. No meeting at Jerry's. PSST members will meet at Museum of Fine Arts Houston for docent tour of Age of Impressionism.
March 8. The last day of public viewing for Art of the Pastel 2014 at the Center for the Arts & Sciences in Clute. March 9. All paintings in AOTP in Clute should be picked up Sunday, March 9, between 2:30 and 5:00 PM. Congratulations again to all the winners, AND to all artists who participated. You made AOTP a big success. Pastels here in Texas are finally receiving the notice they deserve. A beautiful grouping of pastels was shown at the Brenham Fine Arts League show this weekend and one of them won first place in it’s division and the H.L.R. Moore Memorial Award which is a cash prize accompanied by a HUGE ribbon! The painting was “Love That Prickly Pear” by Sharon Haney (a PSST member) and the judge, Ken Muenzenmayer from Round Top, TX, said her painting was very enjoyable to look at. He liked the way in which Sharon had used pastel in this particular painting, the use of the light and he noted that she had taken a challenge with her composition. There were approximately 85 paintings entered into the show. It was held at the Downtown Art Gallery in Brenham. MARCH 1 MEETING REMINDER The March 1st meeting will not be at Jerry's. We are having a special trip to the Museum of Fine Arts, 1001 Bissonnet, Houston, to view The Age of Impressionism. A guided Docent Tour will begin at 10:00.
