November 11: historic Fernland Park, located at 780 Clepper Street, Montgomery, TX . This park features historic log cabins, a bell tower and fields (hopefully with bales of hay!) The library next door has a beautiful garden and pond to paint, too. Meet in the parking lot just off the street and in front of the log cabins. Bring water and a bag lunch if you like, restaurants are scarce in this area. The library is open and has restroom facilities.
No instruction and no fee, just bring your gear. Feel free to paint or sketch in the medium of your choice—oils, acrylics, pastels, watercolors, charcoal, etc. Painting from 9:00 AM to noonish, come and go as you please. For information on each month’s event and advice on what to bring, contact Kathy Fediw at 281-687-6966 or email [email protected] As a reminder, the PSST website lists more plein air events here.

Cancelled October 26 Plein Air Event at Arborgate Cancelled November 4 Workshop Make Your Own Pastels. The workshop will be included in the 2018 schedule of programs. Our support, prayers and thoughts are with Linda Dellandre in the passing of her mother. Linda was to hold the plein air event and the workshop, but will still be out of town with her family. November 4 Meeting and Program 9:00 - 12:00. The always fun paint-around highlights the November meeting. If you have never attended a paint-around, it's a don't be nervous, grab your skills, and paint over the work of someone else. Here's a link to a previous paint-around, all for laughs. We should be finished around noon. Plan to stay afterwards and have lunch at a restaurant nearby and visit if your plans permit. Amber Barnes of The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department contacted PSST. She handles vendor space for the Arts in the Park event at Rob Fleming Park in The Woodlands on Saturday, November 4th from 2-6 PM. This event provides artists the opportunity to sell art, crafts, handmade wares and more to the community. Tents, tables and chairs are provided. There is a full line up of performers on the stage, a kids zone with bounce houses, arts/crafts and many food vendors. If interested please email [email protected] or visit www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov/artsinthepark for an application.
PSST critique sessions.
PSST member artists in the general Fort Bend area met August 14 and October 16, 2017 to initiate a trial run in this new benefit for members. The purpose is to provide positive, constructive comments on what will make a painting better. The artist explains the intent of the painting, light direction, and problem areas. The group is asked to consider whether intent and focal point were achieved, success in technique, color, value, and shapes. The critique is of the painting, and not the painter. With the success of the Fort Bend group as a guide, PSST would like to create small, community based critique groups for PSST members. If you are interested in hosting one, please email [email protected]. Carolyn has a Google map showing locations of all members throughout Houston. |
