Fun, laughs, and "Oh, I cannot do this" preceded the PSST annual PaintAround. What followed it were 7 outstanding original paintings, each one painted by 14 artists.
7 easels were lined up, each with different pastel papers, palettes, and reference photos. Linda Dellandre started the timer, as the first group of 7 artists were given 4 minutes to start a painting, Then the second group of 7 had 4 minutes. As the 2 groups rotated, each time stepping to the next painting, the time whittled down to 1 frantic minute. At the end, names were drawn and 7 lucky artists got to take a painting home. Final paintings shown with reference photos! Click each for a larger view.

Imagine having a completed painting in one hour, worked on by 12 different artists! And then being lucky enough to take one home. We did it at April 11 PSST meeting. Linda Dellandre and Betty James timed and rotated members around the easels in too-quickly shorter intervals, from 3 minutes down to 30 seconds. All completed with smiles and fun, then a random drawing gave the finished paintings to 6 lucky members. Great tips and techniques for framing were demonstrated by Linda Dellandre, Betty James, and Carolyn Hancock. The finished paintings from February 2013 Paint Around. About 15 artists made their strokes of pastel and color choices on each painting. Beautiful perfection in an hour and a half! Four lucky people got to take them home.
