If you have the chance to visit the Art Gallery at the Center for the Arts and Sciences in Clute, TX by all means do it. You will find some of the finest pastel artwork in the state there on exhibit through March 8th. BASF Corporation, a worldwide chemical company, hosted the opening reception on Friday evening attended by artists, art enthusiasts and the general public. Show Judge Alan Flattmann spoke on the versatility and properties of pastel and then presented the awards. Best of Show went to “Thoughts of Elberta” by Brenda Hash, First Place to “The Sea” by Linda Dellandre, Second Place to “Mostly Blue” by Irena Taylor, Third Place to “Miss Lilly Rose” by Rita Kirkman and Honorable Mentions were given to “Peaceful” by Betty James and “Girl Wearing a Bandana” by John Markese. It was an enjoyable event which followed the conclusion of a three day Landscape & Cityscape Workshop conducted by Mr. Flattmann. Many thanks go to the Brazosport Art League for all their help and support with both the reception and the workshop. Their facility in Clute is one of the finest in the area.
