Carolyn Hancock's painting, I Wonder, has been accepted in a unique program created by The Woodlands High School.
With an end result of acquiring a permanent art collection, each year TWHS invites artists of Texas to submit one image for jurying into an exhibition of 15-20 artists. From that exhibition, students vote on their choice, and 3-5 paintings are acquired by the Art Foundation. Those paintings purchased become part of a collection permanently displayed on the walls of TWHS.
Acquisition of the paintings is determined by the voting of the entire school system. Students and faculty are involved throughout the entire process: invitations, jurying, posters, videos, presenters, shirts, volunteers. It is a great program, used in many ways to enrich curriculum not only in visual arts, but in language arts and social studies.
The reception and voting results will be on January 31, 2014, at The Woodlands High School. Carolyn was also accepted in the 2012 exhibition.
