How about a morning at the beach in Galveston with the sand between your toes, a light warmish wind, your easel ready for plein air painting and the opportunity to win some $$$$ for new pastels or frames, or just painting those christmas presents you promised to your Aunt Betsy last year? Phew ...... are you up for this wonderful opportunity and possibly a lunch following with fellow PSST members. I'm in. What about you? Caroline Ratliffe and Anne Maree Healey will be in Galveston on November 18 and 19 painting scenes around Galveston. It just so happens that our Society's Pleinair event has been planned to occur when G. Lee Gallery is hosting Brushes by the Beach Plein Air Contest (November 12 thru the 19th). The judge for the show is Eddie Filer who is an Adjunct Professor in Fine Art at Galveston College. Prizes are given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place. Entry fee is $25 per entry for early birds but you need to sign up by November 6 at the gallery or by Pay Pal. Check your calendars to see if you can make it and then sign up. If you haven't done this sort of thing before please note that you must get the surface you are going to paint on signed or stamped by the gallery before you begin painting. Just so you know, no photographs or portions of photographs may be used. All paintings must be originals and you have to be 16 years or older to enter. You can meet Caroline at 9.30 am at G. Lee Gallery, 2200 Market Street, Suite 735, Galveston, TX, 77550 or you can just go down at your own pace and set up and paint. Remember the golden hours are early morning and late in the afternoon!!! Check out the gallery website for details by clicking on the link: www.gleegallery.net/Brushes-By-The-Beach-PleinAir.html
